Cookie Policy
How we use cookies while you shop for Cutting Drops.
This page explains, in plain language, every cookie and similar tracking technology used on themineralslab.com — what each one does, who it belongs to, why it's there, and exactly how to control or switch it off, whether you're browsing from Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, or New Zealand.
What a "cookie" actually is on this site
A cookie is a small text file that themineralslab.com, or a service we've added to it, places on your device when you visit. It's how the site remembers things between page loads — that your cart still has a bottle of Cutting Drops in it, that you've already seen our shipping banner, or that you came from a particular ad.
We also use a small number of closely related technologies alongside cookies: pixels (tiny tracking images embedded in pages or emails), local storage (data saved in your browser rather than sent with every request), and software development kits used by advertising platforms. For simplicity, this policy refers to all of these together as "cookies," and everything below applies equally to them.
Nothing on this list is hidden. Every cookie we use is set out in the table further down this page, together with who runs it, what it's for, and how long it lasts.
Every cookie on this site falls into one of four buckets.
We group cookies this way because it's the grouping used in our cookie banner, so the category names below match exactly what you'll see when you choose your preferences on the site.
Necessary
Keep your cart contents, remember your currency and country, hold your session together through checkout, and protect the store against fraud and bots. Checkout itself is handled by Shopify's own payment infrastructure, and Shopify sets several of these cookies directly.
Functional
Remember choices you've made that aren't strictly required, such as a previously dismissed banner, your preferred language if we offer more than one, or that you've already seen a particular promotion.
Analytics
Tell us, in aggregate, which pages people visit, how they found the site, and where they drop off — mainly through Google Analytics. We use this to fix broken pages and understand demand, not to identify you personally.
Advertising
Let Meta, TikTok, and Google measure and target the ads that led you here, and show you a Cutting Drops ad again if you've visited before. These are the cookies most relevant to the US opt-out rights described further down this page.
Five named services. No hidden trackers.
These are the only third-party cookie or pixel providers active on themineralslab.com. If we ever add another, we'll update this table and this page's "last updated" date before it goes live.
| Service | Category | What it's for | Typical duration | Their opt-out / info page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify checkout & cart cookies | Necessary | Runs your cart, session, checkout, currency, and fraud-prevention — the technical backbone of buying Cutting Drops | Session up to 2 years, depending on the specific cookie | Shopify Cookie Policy |
| Google Analytics | Analytics | Reports aggregate traffic, page views, and on-site behaviour so we know which pages and products are working | Up to 2 years | Google's data use policy |
| Meta Pixel (Facebook & Instagram) | Advertising | Measures and improves our Facebook and Instagram ads, and can show you a Cutting Drops ad again after you've visited the site | Up to 90 days | Meta Cookie Policy |
| TikTok Pixel | Advertising | Measures and improves our TikTok ads and enables retargeting to past visitors on TikTok | Up to 13 months | TikTok Cookie Policy |
| Google Ads remarketing | Advertising | Shows Cutting Drops ads across the Google Display Network and Search to people who've previously visited our site | Up to 540 days | Google Ad Settings |
A banner on your first visit — nothing loads before you answer.
When you first land on themineralslab.com, a cookie banner appears before any Functional, Analytics, or Advertising cookie is set. Only Necessary cookies run at that point, because the store needs them to let you browse and hold a cart at all.
You can change your mind at any time. A "Cookie Preferences" link sits in the footer of every page — opening it re-shows the same panel with your current choices already selected, so you can switch any category on or off, or reject everything non-essential, whenever you like. We keep a record of your consent choice (what you chose and when) so we can demonstrate compliance if a regulator ever asks, in line with accountability obligations under the UK GDPR, EU-derived frameworks, and Canadian and Australian privacy guidance.
Our banner isn't the only switch — your browser has one too.
Every major browser lets you block, delete, or be warned before a site sets a cookie, independently of any choice you make on themineralslab.com. Here's where to find that control:
Google Chrome
Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. You can also open Google Ad Settings to opt out of ad personalisation directly.
Safari
Settings (or Preferences) → Privacy → Manage Website Data, and toggle "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking" to block third-party advertising and analytics cookies by default.
Mozilla Firefox
Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection, and Cookies and Site Data, to view, block, or clear cookies by site.
Microsoft Edge
Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data, where individual sites and cookie types can be blocked.
You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, adjust your Meta ad preferences, or manage personalised ads directly inside the TikTok app under Settings → Privacy → Ads. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we detect and honour it automatically as an opt-out of Advertising cookies on your visit, without you needing to do anything further.
Please note: blocking or deleting Necessary cookies through your browser may stop the cart, checkout, or currency selector from working correctly, since our site relies on them to function at a basic level — this isn't something our cookie banner can prevent, because it happens outside our website entirely.
The specific law behind your cookie choices, wherever you're browsing from.
The consent tools on this page are the same everywhere, but the law that requires or shapes them is different in each market we serve. Open the section that applies to you below.
AUAustralia
Australia doesn't have a dedicated cookie-consent statute like the UK or EU, but cookie identifiers that can be linked back to you are still "personal information" under Australian law, so our handling of them is governed as follows.
- Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) & the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs): APP 1 requires us to be transparent about how we collect and use data, including via cookies — which is what this page does — and APP 3 limits us to collecting only what's reasonably necessary for the purpose stated for each cookie category.
- Sensitive information: because Cutting Drops is a wellness product, we take extra care not to use cookie or browsing data to infer or target you based on a health condition, and our Advertising cookies are configured around general product interest, not health status.
- Spam Act 2003: if a cookie-informed retargeting campaign leads to us emailing you directly, that email includes a functioning unsubscribe link, consistent with this Act.
- Regulator: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) oversees privacy compliance, and the ACCC oversees misleading conduct, including inaccurate disclosures about tracking.
- State and territory law: the Privacy Act operates federally and there's no separate state-based cookie-consent requirement; however, if you're in a state with health-records legislation (for example Victoria's Health Records Act 2001 or NSW's Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002), the same caution around health-inferred advertising described above applies.
USUnited States
There's no single federal cookie law in the US, so your specific rights depend partly on which state you're in — we apply the strongest applicable standard to every US visitor as a matter of practice.
- FTC Act, Section 5: we don't misrepresent what our cookies do; the categories and third-party table on this page are written to be accurate rather than reassuring.
- California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, which includes Advertising cookies like the Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, and Google Ads remarketing described above. See "Your US privacy choices" below for exactly how to exercise this.
- Other state privacy laws: Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), and a growing list of other states (including Texas, Oregon, and Montana) give residents similar rights to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal data. We extend the same opt-out mechanism to residents of any US state, not only California.
- Global Privacy Control: where your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request under CCPA/CPRA and equivalent state laws, and switch off Advertising cookies for that visit automatically.
- COPPA: Cutting Drops is not marketed to, or intended for, anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly set Advertising or Analytics cookies for visitors we know to be children under 13.
- CAN-SPAM Act: any marketing email sent as a result of a cookie-based retargeting list includes a working unsubscribe mechanism, consistent with federal law.
UKUnited Kingdom
The UK has the clearest cookie-specific legal requirement of any market we serve, and our banner is built to meet it directly.
- Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR): we must obtain your consent before setting any cookie that isn't "strictly necessary" for the site to function — which is exactly why Functional, Analytics, and Advertising cookies stay off until you actively switch them on.
- UK GDPR & Data Protection Act 2018: because cookie identifiers, together with the data they collect, can constitute personal data, our processing must have a lawful basis (your consent, for optional categories) and you have rights to access, correct, or delete that data, set out in our Privacy Policy.
- ICO guidance on cookie banners: "Reject all" is presented with the same visual prominence as "Accept all" on our banner, with no pre-ticked optional boxes and no extra clicks needed to decline.
- Right to withdraw: you can withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link in our footer, as easily as you gave it.
- Regulator: the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) oversees both PECR and UK GDPR compliance in relation to cookies.
CACanada
Canadian cookie rules sit at both the federal and provincial level, and Quebec in particular has its own, stricter regime.
- Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA): requires meaningful consent before collecting personal information through cookies; the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada's guidance recommends the kind of granular, opt-in-by-category banner we use for Functional, Analytics, and Advertising cookies.
- Quebec — Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25): Quebec residents are shown our cookie banner with Functional, Analytics, and Advertising cookies defaulted to off, requiring an affirmative opt-in before any of them load, in line with Law 25's stricter consent and transparency requirements.
- Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL): where cookie-based retargeting leads to a marketing email, that email requires your consent and includes a working unsubscribe link.
- Regulator: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) oversees PIPEDA nationally, with the Commission d'accès à l'information handling Law 25 in Quebec.
NZNew Zealand
New Zealand doesn't have a cookie-specific law, but its general privacy statute still governs what cookies are allowed to do with your data.
- Privacy Act 2020 & the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs): IPP 3 requires us to be open about what we collect through cookies and why, which this page sets out; IPP 1 limits collection to what's needed for the stated purpose.
- Office of the Privacy Commissioner (NZ) guidance: recommends clear notice and an easy opt-out for tracking technologies used for advertising — reflected in our "Reject non-essential" option being just as easy to select as "Accept all."
- Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007: governs consent and unsubscribe requirements for any marketing email that follows from cookie-based audience building, separate from the cookies themselves.
- Regulator: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) oversees Privacy Act compliance in New Zealand.
Opting out of the sale or sharing of your data, in three ways.
We don't sell personal information for money to anyone. But under the CCPA/CPRA and similar state laws, letting Meta, TikTok, or Google use your cookie data for their own advertising purposes counts as a "sale" or "share." Here's exactly how to say no to that, without affecting your ability to buy Cutting Drops.
Identifiers such as your device or browser ID, and internet activity information such as pages viewed and products added to cart, are made available to Meta, TikTok, and Google through the pixels listed in the third-party table above, so those platforms can measure and target ads.
You'll pay the same price for Cutting Drops and receive the same service whether or not you opt out of Advertising cookies — we don't offer a different price or a lesser experience based on your privacy choices, consistent with the CCPA's non-discrimination requirement.
For rights beyond cookies — such as requesting a copy of, correcting, or deleting the personal information we hold about you — see the full request process in our Privacy Policy. These broader rights are available to residents of California and other US states with equivalent laws, and we honour reasonable requests from any visitor regardless of location.
Turning cookies off doesn't stop you shopping — but it does change some things.
Rejecting Functional, Analytics, or Advertising cookies never blocks you from browsing, adding Cutting Drops to your cart, or completing checkout. Here's what does change:
Cart & checkout
These rely entirely on Necessary cookies, which can't be disabled through our banner. If you block them at the browser level instead, your cart may empty between pages and checkout may fail to load correctly.
Personalisation
Without Functional cookies, the site may show you the same banners or prompts repeatedly, and won't remember preferences like a previously dismissed notice.
Ads & retargeting
Without Advertising cookies, you simply won't be shown a Cutting Drops ad again after leaving the site, and Meta, TikTok, and Google Ads won't receive data about your visit for their own measurement.
Cookies and children
Cutting Drops is formulated for adults, and this site is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly set Advertising or Analytics cookies for visitors we know to be children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through cookies. If you believe a child's data has reached us this way, contact help.themineralslab@gmail.com and we'll investigate and delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or change what a cookie does — for example, adopting a new advertising platform — we'll update the third-party table above and change the "last updated" date at the top and bottom of this page before the change takes effect. We won't quietly expand what a cookie category does without reflecting it here first.
Questions about a specific cookie? Ask a real person.
If anything on this page is unclear, or you'd like help exercising an opt-out or a data request, our small team — not a call centre — will get back to you within 1 business day.
